Chelsea transfer news: Dele Alli would leave Tottenham to join Blues - Dean Saunders
Saunders believes the Blues squad still needs strengthening with the new season just hours away.
Chelsea have sold Nemanja Matic and bought Alvaro Morata, Tiemoue Bakayoko and Antonio Rudiger this summer - but the ex-Wales international thinks it's not enough.
He thinks Chelsea still need to splash the cash and believes Alli should be on their radar. Asked who could strengthen the Chelsea squad, Saunders told talkSPORT: "Dele Alli - and I think he would move to Chelsea.
"Then there's Virgil van Dijk and Harry Kane." The show's host Alan Brazil then stopped Saunders in his tracks and said: "No chance, Harry Kane is Spurs through and through."
But Saunders disagreed and said: "Them two players [Alli and Kane] would improve any team." Calls are mounting from former players for the Blues to spend with boss Antonio Conte cutting an increasingly frustrated figure.
Chelsea legend Frank Lampard said: “I’m sure Conte can go to the board and say he needs more players.
“They need another central midfielder, and they need cover in the wing-back roles. “You look at the two teams there, and Chelsea have got almost half of what the Arsenal squad is.
“If we’re talking about quality, I still think Chelsea have that quality, but when Conte was at Juventus he used to do the same thing in the summer. He used to push the club to buy more players to move forward
