Real Madrid using agent advantage to hijack Barcelona move for £135m Ousmane Dembele

Borussia Dortmund's highly-rated winger has attracted strong attention from Barcelona.

The Catalan giants have turned to the 21-year-old as a potential long-term replacement for Neymar.

Following his £200million transfer to Paris Saint-Germain, Barcelona have the funds to bring a star man in. However, Dortmund have quoted them a price-tag of £135m for Dembele.

And Barcelona now face the added battle to land the France international of beating rivals Madrid to his signature.

According to Spanish newspaper Mundo Deportivo, Madrid have made their own approach following a meeting held between Barcelona and Dortmund bosses on Tuesday.

Madrid are cooling their interest in teenage sensation Kylian Mbappe, who Monaco are determined to keep. The report adds that Madrid's interest in Dembele will either raise the fee Barcelona need to pay or see him become a Bernabeu player.

His ability to play on the right side of attack also appeals to the European champions, as Manchester United and Chelsea target Gareth Bale is seen as the weakest part of Zinedine Zidane's 'BBC' frontline.

Mundo Deportivo add Madrid's plan to beat Barcelona to Dembele is to use Pedja Mijatovic. The former Real striker and director apparently maintains a good relationship with Dembele's agent Moussa Sissokho.

Mijatovic continues to work in favour of Madrid when he can. Another advantage is Dembele would likely be attracted to play under compatriot and France icon Zidane.

Barcelona are not rushing through a deal as Dembele is attracted to the move, but a switch to Madrid is still feasible too.
