Getafe sign the man who took on Real Madrid singlehandedly at Club World Cup

Getafe are delight to announce the signing of Gaku Shibasaki

Cristiano Ronaldo ultimately stole the 2016 Club World Cup headlines but the previously unheard of Gaku Shibasaki played a huge part in the final, and is now set for a reunion with Real Madrid as a Getafe player.

Few had expected Kashima Antlers to go very far as the host team of the tournament, but they nonetheless met Los Blancos in Yokohama on December 18 and were fired into a 2-1 lead by their enigmatic star.

Japanese international Shibasaki was then offered a route to Spain with Segunda Division side Tenerife, struggling to adapt before finally nailing down a key place in the team.

After those sterling showings, the midfielder has been confirmed as a Getafe signing for their upcoming LaLiga campaign, and he'll be presented to the press at 12:00 CET on Friday.
