23′ Uruguay 0-1 Cape Verde

Was the goal against the run of play? Sure, probably.

But Uruguay haven’t really threatened with shots on goal and Cape Verde have been ruthless with their one half-chance.

Kevin Pina, 29, stood over the set piece a little less than 25 yards out. He fired it hard and low looking for the bottom-right corner, the wall split, and goalkeeper Fernando Muslera couldn’t get across!

Well aimed but that’s really poor from the Uruguay wall, with Maxi Araujo on the right and Federico Vinas on the left both turning their bodies as they jumped, leaving a gap in the middle.

The ball scythed straight through that gap and into the corner. And Cape Verde’s bench emptied to celebrate with their hero. Wow.
