For the first time this preseason, Brock Purdy will suit up and take the field for the San Francisco 49ers tonight as he’s expected to play a few series according to head coach Kyle Shanahan.
Battling turf toe last season, the 26-year-old only appeared in nine games last season but when he was on the field the 49ers offense was electric. In those nine games, Purdy threw for 2,167 yards with 20 touchdowns and 10 interceptions, adding an additional 147 yards and three scores on the ground. Extrapolated over a full season, that pace would clear 4,000 passing yards and have him in the neighborhood of 40 touchdown passes.
While that may be an ambitious projection, the days of Purdy being underrated may be behind us.
