Swiss football club FC Basel have cancelled a planned concert by Kanye West, indicating the rapper doesn’t align with the club’s “values.”
He was due to perform at the club’s St. Jakob Park stadium, home of the 21-time Swiss champions, in June, but the club now say “after thorough review” that is no longer the case.
When approached by The Athletic, a Basel club spokesperson commented: “In principle, FC Basel is very keen to make greater use of St. Jakob-Park for concerts and events in the future, and we consider such enquiries carefully.
“In this case, too, FCB received an enquiry and considered it. However, after thorough review, we have decided not to proceed with the project, as we cannot, in accordance with our values, provide a platform for the artist in question within this context.”

Adidas, Balenciaga, Def Jam, Vogue, JP Morgan, and GAP are among the companies that have cut ties with West in recent years.
On April 7, it was announced that the 48-year-old’s headline show at Wireless, a music festival in the UK, had been cancelled after West was banned from entering the United Kingdom by the country’s government.
On the same day, a stadium in Poland announced the cancellation of a summer concert by West. Earlier this week, the musician postponed a concert planned for June in Marseille, France, as the French interior ministry said it was considering banning the event.
In October 2022, The Athletic reported that Premier League side Bournemouth would no longer play West’s song ‘Power’ before games at the Vitality Stadium due to his outbursts.
