The transfer portal for baseball opened on June 1 and runs through June 30. The eight coaches in Omaha have to focus on getting their teams prepared to play, but they can’t neglect their roster-building duties.
“I think when you’re here, you’re trying to keep up with everybody else who is at home,” Texas coach Jim Schlossnagle said. “And if you’re a team at home like we were last year, you’re trying to get as many knocked down as you can before the teams from Omaha get home.
“In (the SEC), we all recruit, for the most part, the same players. So everybody’s going to get their fair share, I guess, but it’s definitely really competitive. We have Zoom calls scheduled when we’re not playing, and that’s just part of it.”
Last year, Texas signed two of the highest-profile transfers in the nation, outfielder Aiden Robbins and catcher Carson Tinney. Robbins committed on June 18, during the 2025 CWS, while Tinney committed on June 23, the day after the CWS concluded.
