The Detroit Lions enter tonight’s game with a 2-1 record after three high-scoring games. They outlasted the New Orleans Saints in overtime (31-30) to start the season before losing to the Buffalo Bills (41-31) on the road.
Detroit bounced back last week with a 31-24 win over the New York Jets. In a competitive NFC North, getting a third win would be massive for the Lions.
Jahmyr Gibbs is having an incredible start to the season. He enters “Sunday Night Football” with 307 rushing yards (fifth in the NFL) and four touchdowns (T-3). Gibbs is receiving early MVP consideration for his prolific play on the ground and is one of the reasons why the Lions have an above .500 record through three weeks.
The defense remains a concern for the Lions. Through three games, they’ve given up 95 points. They entered this week second to last in the NFL in yards allowed per game (416.7). The Lions defense goes up against a Panthers offense ranked seventh in yards gained per game (392.7) so it might be a challenge for this unit dealing with Bryce Young and company.
