A new Premier League season is upon us, and among many Chelsea supporters there seems to be renewed optimism.
Xabi Alonso’s appointment as manager has lifted much of the gloom that settled in the final stretch of a disastrous 2025-26 season that yielded a 10th-place finish in the Premier League table, while another summer of eye-catching transfer spending has constructed a squad with intriguing potential to do much better this time around.
But as always with Chelsea, there is much more than that to discuss.
Which players do they still need to sell or loan before the transfer window closes? Why are the club starting yet another season without a front-of-shirt sponsor? Is anything happening at all on the stadium front? How concerning is it that Todd Boehly and Mark Walter are looking to sell their shares to Clearlake Capital?
