The Thunder trailed 15-0, and the Frost Bank Center crowd was going wild. So with the starters struggling, they overwhelmed San Antonio with their depth. A lineup of Shai Gilgeous-Alexander and four bench players got the Thunder back into the game by the time the first quarter was over, and Oklahoma City’s offense cooked even with Gilgeous-Alexander shooting a modest 6-for-17.
The reason: So. Many. Weapons. Jaylin Williams came off the bench, made 5-of-6 from 3, and, of course, took a charge. Alex Caruso, who might seriously win series MVP, scored 15 points in 24 minutes, played his usual amazing defense, and finished +28. Jared McCain added 24 points, and Cason Wallace chipped in 11 and three steals.
