Oliver Glasner has reminded himself to “stay humble” despite notching up his eighth game unbeaten as a head coach against Aston Villa’s Unai Emery.
The Austrian saw his Nottingham Forest side claim their first success at Villa Park since 1994 – and his first in the job – on a landmark day for the Reds in the West Midlands.
Glasner held the upper hand against the Aston Villa coach during his time at Selhurst Park, notching up five wins and two draws in all competitions against Emery’s side.
And he made it six victories as goals from Liam Delap and Igor Jesus secured a memorable Forest win. The home side ended the game with ten players due to an injury sustained by Ian Maatsen.
“I spoke to him (Emery) before the game and told him that it was still 5-2 to him, in terms of European trophies won. I said to myself ‘Oliver Glasner, stay humble’,” said the Forest head coach in his post-match press conference.
“I will stay that way. Every win is great, but I did not play one second today. The players deserve all the credit, because they did so well. Our fans deserve the credit, because they supported us. Now we will go home and have a lovely Saturday evening.”
